Confirmation

The next Sacrament of Confirmation will be held on June 25th at 6:00 p.m. at St. Luke the Evangelist.

The Sacrament of Confirmation seals believers with the Holy Spirit, perfecting baptismal grace and propelling them into missionary discipleship. It is a call to witness Christ boldly, serve the Church’s mission, and evangelize the world using the charisms given for the building of God’s Kingdom.

Confirmation transforms the faithful into active participants in the Church’s life—marked by communion, participation, and mission.

Confirmation: The Pentecostal Fire for Mission

Confirmation renews the grace of Pentecost, igniting within believers the fire of mission and granting the courage to proclaim the Gospel in every context.

“Confirmation perfects Baptismal grace; it is the sacrament which gives the Holy Spirit in order to root us more deeply in divine filiation, incorporate us more firmly into Christ, strengthen our bond with the Church, associate us more closely with her mission, and help us bear witness to the Christian faith in words accompanied by deeds.”

Through this outpouring of the Holy Spirit:

  • All believers—not only clergy—are equipped for mission
  • Charisms are given for service and evangelization
  • Faith matures into active participation in the Church

Confirmation can be understood as a personal Pentecost, empowering each Christian for their prophetic, priestly, and royal mission.

Through Confirmation:

  • Believers are more deeply united to the universal Church
  • They are connected to their local parish community
  • They become active members of Christ’s Body

The “Amen” to Witness and Evangelization

In Confirmation, the candidate’s “Amen” is a powerful commitment:

  • To follow Jesus Christ
  • To live faithfully within the Church
  • To embrace the mission of evangelization

This commitment includes:

  • Renouncing evil
  • Living the Gospel authentically
  • Witnessing through both words and actions
  • Sharing the Good News with courage

Confirmation seals a person’s Christian identity and calls them to live what they profess.

Living Missionary Discipleship

Confirmation calls Christians to actively live their faith in the world.

This includes:

  • Being open and responsive to the Holy Spirit
  • Using personal gifts for God’s purpose
  • Witnessing to Christ in daily life
  • Engaging in the Church’s mission

Summary

The Sacrament of Confirmation indelibly marks believers with the Holy Spirit, empowering them for missionary discipleship. It unites them more deeply to Christ and equips them with gifts for:

  • Witness
  • Service
  • Evangelization

Confirmation is not an endpoint—it is a beginning.

Live this grace daily. Be bold in faith. Go forth as a missionary disciple.
